Grateful launches with Dojo

Tips collected by Dojo. Allocated and paid by Grateful.
One connected journey from the card machine to your team’s bank account. Fair, automated and fully compliant with the Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023.
Grateful is now an integrated partner of Dojo, so hospitality venues can pair Dojo’s card machines with fair, compliant tip distribution from Grateful.
We’re delighted to announce that Grateful has officially launched with Dojo, one of the UK’s leading payment providers for hospitality. Dojo powers card payments for more than 150,000 businesses across the UK, from independent cafés to busy multi-site groups.
For operators, it means one less gap between taking a payment and paying your team. For the people behind the bar and on the floor, it means tips that are tracked, shared fairly and paid out properly.
Why we’ve partnered with Dojo
Most tips in UK hospitality are now paid by card. That makes the moment a guest taps their card the moment fair tipping starts, and it’s why the payment provider matters as much as the tronc behind it.
Since the Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act came into force, operators must have a written tipping policy, allocate tips fairly and keep records available to staff on request. Doing that well means card tips need to flow cleanly from the terminal into how they’re allocated and paid.
Dojo is built for busy hospitality floors, with fast, reliable card machines that teams already know and trust. Grateful takes it from there, handling tronc, compliance and payouts. Together, we close the loop.
How a tip travels
From the tap of a card to every member of the team, without a spreadsheet in sight.
Guest tips on Dojo
At the table or at the counter, on the Dojo terminal your team already uses.

Tips are allocated fairly and automatically, with a full audit trail.
Paid and visible
Tips are paid through payroll, and every penny shows in the Grateful app.
What it means for you
For operators already using Dojo, adding Grateful means card tips no longer need to be pulled together by hand at the end of every week.
- Less admin: card tips taken on Dojo terminals import into Grateful automatically, so there’s no manual reconciling of spreadsheets.
- Fair, compliant distribution: tips are allocated by the rules you set, with a full audit trail that supports the Code of Practice on tipping.
- Tax-efficient tronc: a properly run tronc scheme protects your National Insurance savings. Try the Tronc Savings Calculator to see what you could save.
For teams, it means seeing exactly what they’ve earned in the Grateful app, getting paid on time, and knowing every tip has been shared fairly, including with the kitchen and back-of-house staff guests don’t always see.
